Why we Give
At The Bridge, we believe that financial giving is not a duty but a privilege (2 Corinthians 9:15) – it is a form of worship and one of the primary ways we tangibly express our love and trust in God (Matthew 6:21). We do not give to make God love us; we give generously and cheerfully because He already does (John 3:16, 2 Corinthians 9:6-15). We believe the Lord has asked us to give at least 10% of our income to Him (Malachi 3:6-12, Deut. 14:22-23) as a demonstration of our faith in Him and to support His work on Earth through the local church (i.e. The Bridge) (Matthew 6:19-21). We believe that God, through Jesus Christ, is the principal owner of ALL of our money and wealth (Psalm 24:1). We believe that the total submission of our finances and resources to God is the outcome of Christ’s transformational work in our lives (James 2:14-26). We encourage people to obey the instruction to give not only out of obedience to His Word, but also out of a deep sense of love for Jesus and an urgency to share the Gospel with unbelievers.
Ways we can Give
An offering is received during each worship service. We encourage you to put your givings in the offering envelopes provided in the weekly bulletin and available at the offering boxes and ATM machine. Please ensure that you designate your funds properly (General, Building, Mission) and clearly identify your name (for tax receipt purposes).
Clearly marked donation boxes are located at the back of the auditorium and in the lobby. You can put your givings here during the week or before/after a worship service. Again, we encourage you to put your givings in an offering envelope.
We have a donation terminal (ATM) in the lobby through which people can give via Interac (debit), MasterCard or Visa. Step-by-step instructions are provided at the terminal and ushers are available to assist you should an issue arise. Please put the ‘merchant’ receipt in an offering envelope (with your name and designation) for tax receipt purposes.
One of the most convenient ways to give is directly from your bank account through automatic withdrawal (AWD). AWDs are very flexible and convenient – they can be set up to match your pay schedule (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, etc.) or for a specific period of time (e.g. summer months). Individuals can cancel automatic withdrawals at any time by simply notifying the bookkeeper. To sign up for our AWD program, please contact our bookkeeper,(email@example.com).
